About Kenya
 MAASAI MARA

MAASAI MARA The Maasai Mara (also spelled Masai Mara) is a large park reserve in south-western Kenya, which is effectively the northern continuation of the Serengeti National Park game reserve in Tanzania. Named for the Maasai tribespeople (the traditional inhabitants of the area) and the Mara River which divides it, it is famous for its exceptional population of game and the annual migration of the wildebeest every September and October, a migration so immense to be called the Great Migration.

 Lake NAKURU

Lake NAKURU Lake Nakuru is one of the Rift Valley soda lakes. It lies to the south of Nakuru, in central Kenya and is protected by a small Lake Nakuru National Park. The lake's abundance of algae attracts the vast quantity of flamingos that famously lines the shore. Other birds also flourish in the area, as do warthogs, baboons and other large mammals. Black and White rhinos have also been introduced.

 Treetops Lodge

Treetops Lodge The Treetops overlooks two waterholes, a salt lick both of which attract a great variety of animals, which means guests do not need to go out on safari. On clear days you can even see the snowy peaks of Mount Kenya. The lodge boasts two photographic hides at ground level at either end of the lodge to allow really close shots of unsuspecting animals. It has 4 decks and a rooftop-viewing platform.

Treetops Lodge is also famous for its historical royal connection. One afternoon in February of 1952, a young English girl climbed the fig tree as a Princess , to descend the following morning as Queen Elizabeth II --her father, King George VI had died during the night.

 GREAT RIFT VALLEY

GREAT RIFT VALLEY The Great Rift Valley is a vast geographical and geological feature that runs north to south for some 5,000 km, from northern Syria in Southwest Asia to central Mozambique in East Africa. The valley varies in width from thirty to one hundred kilometers, and in depth from a few hundred to several thousand meters. It was named by the explorer John Walter Gregory.
